Mature vines at Jesse James Vineyard are deeply-rooted in rocky, volcanic soil at upper elevation in the Eola-Amity Hills. Sustainable farming practices are mindfully complemented by dry-farming, without irrigation, allows the grapes to reflect the growing season. 2016 harvest conditions were ideal, and vinification proceeded slowly with native yeasts. The wine was aged in cooperage locally-produced from Oregon oak (Quercus garryana), native to the Willamette Valley. Soulfully aromatic with complex structure - rich red fruit, spice and forest floor, broad weight with fine tannins and elegant acidity - this long-aging Pinot Noir displays a distinct sense of place and was artisanally-produced in limited quantity with uncompromising expectations of quality.
