Etienne Bodet is a new and exciting Loire Valley winemaker, with stints in Champagne and internships with Sylvain Pataille, Bernard Baudry and Chenin Blanc wizard Guiberteau under his belt. He now focuses exclusively on sparkling Chenin Blanc. We love his Physis for its frothy mix of sea shells, hazelnuts, high-pitched white fruits, and a slight earthiness that calls to mind Champagnes made from Pinot Meunier. The quality is Champagne-like, but the personality (and the pricing!) is all Loire.
