This property, which borders the first growths of Lafite and Mouton Rothschild, is owned by the proprietors of the 'super' Second Growth Chateau Pichon-Lalande Comtesse de Lalande. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the 2000 is an elegant, richly textured wine with aromas of smoky blackberry, black currant, cedar and some caramel notes from the French oak treatment. On the palate it is lush with velvety tannins that soften with time in a decanter and showcase the black fruits and licorice notes that pop in the glass.
