70% Zweigelt, 30% Blaufränkisch, from sandy/loem soils. The season was quite good: although it was very hot from the beginning, there was always sufficient water supply. It only got really dry in August. As expected, it was the earliest harvest start ever – August 16th. Judith tried to pick most of the Zweigelt Rosé lots early in order to have good acidity. The Blaufränkisch part was picked at the end of the harvest, in the middle of September. Judith achieved to obtain both good ripeness and balanced acidity. Most of the Rosé grapes came from the bottom of the hill, as they have a little less sugar and a bit more acidity – Judith prefers to keep the grapes from the slopes for the red wines. The grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and the wine remained in tank until bottling, in the middle of January.
